Solutions meet demand for accuracy and safety in water testing
Akron, OHIO – September 30, 2011 – Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics (SGPPL) today introduced a portfolio of critical connections solutions for water analysis and testing applications. These high-performance solutions help engineers in municipalities and environmental agencies involved in water pollution monitoring and residential water supply testing to accurately and efficiently analyze the quality of a water sample.

Wastewater Sample Testing
Seeking compliance with government regulations such as the Clean Water Act, engineers are charged with monitoring municipal and industrial wastewater before its discharge. To meet this end, engineers often implement the use of peristaltic pumps to prevent cross-contamination, as the only part of the pump to come in contact with the water is the interior of the tubing itself. Therefore, flexible tubing used in water analysis must not absorb chemicals found in the water and must be hard-wearing to withstand repeated flexing of a peristaltic cycle.
SGPPL has introduced a range of Norprene® chemical tubing for water testing systems that are engineered to provide a coveted combination of chemical resistance and flexibility. Ideal for peristaltic pumps used in water analysis, the Norprene tubing's ultra-smooth bore resists the absorption of water to maintain flow rate accuracy while the flexible outer jacket provides a long product life, reducing downtime due to pump tubing failure.
Municipal Water Testing
According to the CDC, the presence of certain contaminants in a city’s drinking water such as lead, pesticides and radon can lead to serious health issues, including gastrointestinal illness, reproductive problems, and neurological disorders. Therefore, accuracy is of primary concern for civil engineers testing potable water in order to ensure safety standards are met. Measurements of minerals and chemicals must not be influenced or contaminated by the properties of the tubing used during analysis, as this could affect test results.
To ensure accuracy, SGPPL offers a variety of USP Class VI approved Chemfluor® tubing solutions. Chemically inert and virtually non-porous, Chemfluor is formulated to enhance flow rate accuracy, while ensuring safety.
