Gloucester County Institute of Technology Students Visit MickletonMore than 20 students from the Gloucester County Institute of Technology recently visited the Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics plant in Mickleton, New Jersey.
The students, high school juniors studying engineering, are involved in material science. “Their teacher felt that coming to our facility would be beneficial to them,” says Lindsay Traum, human resources manager. “We gave them a brief introduction to safety and our products, and then led them on tours for a more in-depth look at our processes. The students reviewed our facility and our warehouse, and saw presentations on our extrusion process and quality. They all had good questions, and seemed impressed with cleanliness (5S) and our knowledge of the plastics industry.”
The 60-employee Mickleton plant manufactures plastic tubing products used in various markets and applications such as document processing, pulp and paper, chemical processing, polymer products and the pharmaceutical industry.
