The use of peristaltic pumps in the food and beverage industry can positively impact productivity by reducing maintenance and operational costs while improving reliability and performance. Tubing is the only component of the pump that comes into contact with fluid, making it a vital component of the pump. If the tubing performance is not up to par, then the benefits of using a peristaltic pump may be jeopardized.
This white paper explores the different peristaltic pump food and beverage applications and their challenges. Implications such as food hygiene, cleaning, reliability, low shear are addressed as are the different tubing criteria which must be taken into consideration in order to ensure proper pump performance: chemical resistance, elasticity, organoleptics, wear resistance and accurate sizing and tight tolerances.
Saint-Gobain is also proud to introduce Tygon® E-65-F, a flexible product designed with peristaltic pump applications in mind and with a focus on taste and odor integrity.
